Moving

A Moving Checklist for Middle Tennessee

A general checklist to help keep your move organized, whether you're relocating across town or across the country.

Moving involves a lot of moving parts (no pun intended). Here's a general checklist to help you stay organized.

4-6 weeks before

Research moving companies or rental trucks, begin decluttering, and start collecting moving supplies.

2-4 weeks before

Schedule utility transfers or new service setup at your new home, submit a change of address, and begin using up food and cleaning supplies you don't want to move.

1-2 weeks before

Confirm moving day logistics, pack non-essential rooms, and label boxes by room.

Moving week

Pack an essentials box with items you'll need immediately, confirm final walkthrough details if you're closing on a sale, and double-check utility start dates at your new home.

After the move

Update your address with your bank, employer, and other accounts, register vehicles if you've moved across county or state lines, and take time to explore your new community.
